I’d be lying if I said that we aren’t quite excited to do a full renovation on this kitchen … just wasn’t exactly what we set out to do at the moment. But we figured out how to make it reasonable with ready-to-assemble cabinets. Of course, there’s a boatload more info that went into this decision – including cost of both options, the work on the existing cabinets to diy them into the style we wanted, and all the conversations we had considering replacing the cabinets before we even started. There was a lot of work ahead with making over these existing cabinets to the style I was hoping for. Honestly, I don’t think it’ll be that much more work to go the rta route. And, truthfully, I’m a bit relieved. Sometimes it’s easier to start fresh! We did think about building all new doors and drawer faces and even considered reworking the layout again to try to make it work with the existing cabinetry. Ultimately, we want to make sure we’re adding to the house. We don’t want to take good quality out and replace it with so-so, you know?
