I bought this little 70s vanity last spring for just €5. I originally planned to restore it, but the veneer was too damaged, so I decided to use it for parts instead. It turned out to be a treasure trove of materials! I’ve used pieces for various projects, the drawer has served as a display stand at markets, and the legs became part of a cat bed made from an old TV. 😅
I promised my son his own school desk once he started sleeping in his own room, so it was time to make that happen! 🫡 After some twists and turns, this old vanity became a desk again. I found the legs at a recycling center for just €4, and I can still use the leftover pieces for future projects. I made some minor repairs to the frame and painted it with black furniture paint. I also customized the small drawer door with a laser and furniture paint. The text didn’t turn out perfectly, but it’s good enough! ☕
So, here’s what my son’s desk looks like now! ✌️ The truth is, in a few years, the surfaces will likely be covered in drawings and stickers, but that’s just part of life! 🥃
